We say Gānbēi ~ 干杯

Melissa and Tim’s love story is straight out of High School Musical!!  Mell Bosworth’s vision for her wedding was of an intimate & romantic garden affair with tons of fresh greenery marking her union to her high school sweetheart Tim Wu. This stylish jet setting couple worked with Founding Planner Geneve McNally to plan their Vancouver wedding.  From the first moment Mell visited UBC Botanical Gardens she knew it was the perfect place to host the wedding.  A couple of months into planning the wedding, the scale & formality started to grow!  Word must have gotten out about how incredible this wedding was actually going to be! 🙂  They decided at that time to book out the entire garden for load-in flexibility and to ensure complete privacy.

Over the course of the planning, multiple site visits took place with our tent, flooring, production crews, designers, florists, caterers, and the like.   The plan included a 4000 square foot tent on the Main Lawn to house the dinner and dancing portion of the festivities.  Come the wedding day, the garden was exquisitely enhanced and brought to life with truckloads of decadent floral designed by Granville Island Florist, arches and custom furniture provided by Bespoke Decor, draperies and lighting by Upright Decor, Linens by Faire La Fete, Catering by Savoury Chef, and other thoughtful touches which took set up crews several hours over several days to install!

There were whimsical oversized white balloons adorned with green floral garlands adding a dreamy element to the walkways and garden areas.  Bilingual signage in both Mandarin and English marked the walkways leading to the ceremony and reception.  The Moon Gate enhanced with impressive florals featured a welcoming lemonade station and as guests continued down winding paths to the ceremony area they were treated to glasses of Krystal & Ice Cream… a lovely way to beat the heat and celebrate in style!

Expectations for this wedding were at an all time high and so was the drone that was hired to capture the wedding from the sky offering a fabulously unique perspective to this wedding!  Be sure to check out the video created by Memento Films at the bottom of the photos to see for yourself the exquisite awesomeness that was this truly noteworthy wedding celebration.  Thank you to Butter Studios for documenting the love, efforts, and beauty of this wedding in the most perfect way!

Don’t Mehndi if “I DO”

Following a week-long celebration of their nuptials in Cabo San Lucas,  Sophina & Azim returned to Vancouver to celebrate with a grand multi-day affair spanning over three days. The festivities began with a fabulous Mehndi Party at the Pan Pacific Hotel, followed by a traditional Indian Ceremony at their mosque the next day, ending with a luxurious reception at The Trump Hotel.

The mehndi party at the Pan Pacific had a Middle Eastern flair with rich, vibrant shades of hot pinks, oranges and purples with touches of gold found in the beautiful flowers and decor. A glamorous mendhi station was built and draped with fabrics under which the ladies had their mendhi done, and a hot pink dance floor with a customized Arabic design was a central focal point in the room. As guests entered the reception area, they were greeted by a scene from the Taj Mahal – complete with elephants adorned with floral garlands and an amazing floorscape which depicted the reflective pool in front of the majestic building.

The dinner reception at Trump was a breathtaking display of luxurious florals and elegant decor. As guests arrived, there was a grand exhibit of lavish floral arrangements and candles as they walked down an elaborately-draped hallway towards the reception area. The modern ceiling lights of the hotel were adorned with two long floral installations of hanging wisteria, creating a dramatic effect in the room. Thirty-two guest tables were embellished with tall, glamorous floral centerpieces surrounded by an array of candles and hanging crystals.

The backdrop behind the couple’s sweetheart table was a unique five-panel display, alternating a classic design with gorgeous cream-colored flowers. The custom-designed dance floor displayed the following quote selected personally by the couple: “Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.”

The best part of the day for DreamGroup Planner Jessie Kumagai (apart from the grandness and beauty that came together for Sophina and Azim) was hearing the words of gratitude expressed from the couple and the groom’s dad (who had the highest of expectations).

Happy Wife Happy Life

This classic, elegant, heartfelt union was an authentic family-focused affair with a touch of sparkle!  DreamGroup Planner Brynn Belisle was on hand to help bring all the details together.  Joining in the celebration were the couple’s 3 children making for some truly adorable moments a photographer can only dream of.  With the groom being an RCMP Officer raised in Hawaii, the wedding featured some truly authentic elements including a Mounties Honour Guard Salute as well as fresh floral leis for the couple to wear as they were introduced at the Reception. With many aunts & uncles from out of town, the groom’s RCMP family, and childhood friends in attendance there was a lot of love in the room!  Photos were beautifully captured by Beautiful Life Studios.

The Spanish Catholic ceremony, held at the beautiful St. Anthony of Padua Church, was unique with family member sponsors providing the coins, lighting the candles, and assisting with the veil & cord ceremony. The reception was held at The Arbutus Club, a Vancouver landmark since 1964, offering the perfect setting for a fun family and friend focused celebration!  The Groom, apparently a Jack of all trades, appointed his production company Fully Loaded Productions to provide a custom monogram, pipe & drape, lighting, music, a slideshow, a fog machine to add that perfect touch of romantic mist to a beautiful First Dance.

The speeches shared were very emotional leaving not a dry eye in the house.  The Bridal Party surprised the Bride & Groom with a hilarious Beyonce mash-up dance performance before the evening festivities were officially kicked into high gear with a Confetti bang and guests were invited to join in on the Electric Slide.  Overall, this wedding exuded true love, commitment, an incredible sense of humour and playfulness, and the perfect amount of pretty.

It’s LOVE Baby!

Josephine & Steffen met in Africa.  They had an intimate wedding with 60 of their closest family and friends in attendance. With guests traveling from as far as Europe and Africa it was important to the couple that they showcase the best of Vancouver.  They chose two very special and iconic venues.  DreamGroup Planner Kelsey Mackay-Smith worked with Josephine and Steffen for one year in planning this super romantic and intimate celebration of love. “When Josephine thanked me during the speeches we both started to cry!  I am really going to miss her.”

The ceremony took place next to the serene and lovely Heron Lake at Van Dusen Gardens and the weather fully cooperated!  “It was actually one of the first nice weather days of the season.” The ceremony took place under a cute white tent which provided much needed shade from the sun’s rays!  A gorgeous natural arbor was rented from Reel Silks and covered in fresh floral by the flower masters themselves at The Flower Factory.  Keeping with the romantic theme, guests were given little bags of lavender to toss on the couple upon pronouncement as husband and wife.

Bridges Restaurant on Granville Island was brought to life with beautiful and bright centerpieces featuring Josephine’s favorite flower, Peonies, which luckily became available just days before their wedding.  Peonies are often a bride’s first choice when choosing her flowers as they are so fluffy and romantic, however, they are also temperamental and seasonally affected. Mother Nature obviously approved of this union!  And thankfully the amazingly talented Kim of Maru Fine Art Photography was there to capture it all.

The head table was decorated with the garland re-purposed from the ceremony arbor.  Guest Tables were authentically named after cities that Josephine and Steffen had visited and they wrote personal descriptions for each one that the guests loved reading!  The Band Groove & Tonic was a fabulous addition to the night’s line up and they kept the guests dancing all night long!  A popular guest highlight was the oh so fun candy bar that featured the couple’s favorite candies from Germany.
