He popped the question and she said yes. You’re ecstatic for her and can’t wait to mark this special occasion. If you’re the maid of honour or a bridesmaid, mother of the bride or groom, or sister of the bride, it’s likely the responsibility to organize a bridal shower to celebrate the lucky bride-to-be will fall on your shoulders.

You want to throw her the best bridal shower ever, and you envision something unique and tasteful, but where will you find the inspiration? For most of us, the thought of bridal showers conjure up images of ribbons and bows attached to hats, wedding dresses made out of toilet paper, white gloves and aspic.

It’s getting to be that time of year when Brides start talking Food & Beverage for their weddings.  For those that are not wine connoisseurs, The Globe & Mail has just published an article on a few tasty Red & White wines that won’t put you over budget.  Plus, Principal Planner, Geneve McNally offers some of her thoughts on spirits served at the wedding.

My esteem for wedding planners runs deep. Theirs is a demanding skill set – equal parts etiquette maven, fashion consultant, economist, music scout, florist and therapist. Not my strong suits. (I have enough trouble matching socks with trousers.) Yet every year around this time I find myself channeling Jennifer Lopez to wrestle with that inevitable reader question: “I’m getting married! Can you recommend a decent red and white for 12 bucks? P.S.: We’re having sushi, roast beef and vegan chana masala.” Occasionally I’m also asked about bubbly and spirits.

Besides “lots” in response to that last consideration, I usually have as many questions as answers….

The Original Bridal Swap Recap

What a day!  Our third Original Bridal Swap was our biggest and most successful yet!  We had almost 1000 attendees come through the doors.

Brides to Be came from all over hunting for wedding decor, special wedding finds and of course their wedding dress.

Past Brides who were selling their items brought so many wonderful things from glassware, linens, and frames to cupcake tiers and stands and so much more.
